9 in 10 adults carry a smartphone1 - many of which track activity, like steps. About half own an additional wearable2 - most of whom have discussed their data with their provider2.

Connect your devices with MyUCSDWellness and spend your visit discussing your wellness goals - not poring over pages of data. Between visits, receive wellness tips and easily self-schedule your next appointment.

It's important to note that MyUCSDWellness is a wellness program, not clinical care. Your data is stored apart from your medical record, no one is monitoring your device data, and nothing alerts your care team or triggers clinical action.

Additional information

Is anyone at UC San Diego Health monitoring my data?

No. This is a wellness program, not medical care. No one reviews your data or watches it for changes, and we won't contact you about it. If you're concerned about your health, contact your care team - or call 911 in an emergency.

What data is shared?

Only metrics commonly used in wellness programs - steps, activity, and sleep - are enabled for sharing, and you choose what's shared. Data typically syncs daily.

Why can I only share some of my device data?

MyUCSDWellness is a wellness program, so it focuses on wellness data like activity, fitness, and sleep. Other data types your device collects may be more appropriate for our clinical programs - if you need help managing a health condition, ask your care team about those. We're constantly reevaluating the program and look to include more data types as appropriate.

Will my doctor see it?

Only if you bring it up - your care team isn't notified and doesn't review it on their own. When you do share it, your daily data is typically summarized into weekly snapshots for your provider.

Is this part of my medical record?

No. It's wellness information connected in Epic, kept separate from your medical record. Storing it in Epic keeps it secure - and accessible during your visit.

Can I stop sharing?

Yes. You can disconnect your device or leave the program anytime in the app.

Who can enroll in MyUCSDWellness?

Adult, active patients of UC San Diego Health - and UC San Diego Health employees who are active with a UC San Diego Health Clinically Integrated Network (CIN) affiliate on Epic (learn more at ucsdhn.org). Active generally means two clinical visits in the past 3 years, or one clinical visit scheduled in the next 6 months.

You'll also need an iOS device running Apple Health and an active MyUCSDChart account; Android and Samsung support is coming soon. We're constantly looking to expand who can participate as the program grows - check back for updates. If you believe your eligibility isn't showing correctly, email myucsdwellness@health.ucsd.edu.

Not yet a UC San Diego Health patient? During open enrollment, choose San Diego's best health care. Get started.

Do I need a wearable to join?

No. Your iPhone can track activity, like steps, on its own - that's enough to start. Sleep data generally requires an Apple Watch or other wearable.

Which devices work?

Anything that shares with Apple Health - Apple Watch and most major wearables on iPhone. More connections are coming; Android support is on the roadmap.

What does it cost?

It costs nothing to enroll and participate in MyUCSDWellness. If you and your provider later choose a clinical program, your standard health plan benefits apply.

What's the difference between MyUCSDHealth, MyUCSDWellness, and MyUCSDChart?

MyUCSDHealth is UC San Diego Health's mobile app. MyUCSDChart is your patient account - the login you use for messages, records, and appointments. MyUCSDWellness is the wellness program that lives inside the MyUCSDHealth app.

How do I ask a question or share feedback?

MyUCSDWellness runs largely on its own - there isn't a team monitoring it day to day. For questions or feedback, email myucsdwellness@health.ucsd.edu.
